Halt briefly and imagine thousands of young people from all over the world unite under one goal, one idea and one statement on the exact same day: February 21, 2012.

Envision a peaceful, collaborative movement whose intention is to transform an increasingly worrisome status quo by issuing a one message to their governments, to corporations, communities and individuals: “This is a Wake Up Call!”.

Young changemakers, at the One Young World Summit 2011 in Zurich, pledged to awaken their respective governments, urging them to undertake reforms that promise to initiate essential change.

On behalf of the One Young World Community – comprised of thousands of committed young changemakers from across the planet, all of whom are firmly connected through social media – we, as German One Young World Ambassadors, are reaching out to Chancellor Merkel in the passionate attempt to direct her attention to a worldwide, borderless movement of the next generation of policy-and decision makers: a global Wake Up Call.

In light of our own future and that of our children, we ask Chancellor Merkel to engage with us at the upcoming One Young World Summit in Pittsburgh this October, to face our criticisms and hear our proposals on the crucial issue of sustainable development.

This is Chancellor Merkel’s opportunity to be a pioneer among today’s heads of state by not only claiming to take our needs seriously, but by directly and transparently interacting with us young citizens from all around the world.

Please sign this petition if you want to demonstrate your support for this pledge and if you think it is important to get Chancellor Merkel involved.
