Klaas Faber, zelf al lang ‘recreatief’ sporter, is gepromoveerd in de chemometrie aan de Radboud Universiteit (Nijmegen). Tussen 1994 en 1996 heeft hij als post-doc gewerkt met Bruce Kowalski aan de University of Washington (Seattle, USA), en met Dave Duewer aan het National Institute of Standards and Technology (Gaithersburg, USA).
Tussen 1996 en 2002 was Faber als statisticus verbonden aan het Nederlands Forensisch Instituut (Rijswijk) en de Agrotechnology & Food Sciences Group (Wageningen).
Vanaf 2002 is Faber werkzaam als consultant in de chemometrie. Hij onderhoudt samenwerkingen met diverse universiteiten en heeft ca. 100 wetenschappelijke artikelen gepubliceerd.
