WHERAS last year Washington lobbyists spent a record $2.8 billion. And for the second year in a row, the Health Care and Pharmaceutical Industry led all industries in lobbying with $444.7 million.
Health Care continues to be among the top three issues for Americans in most national polls. And yet reform attempts are stymied time and time again by elected officials accountable to the special interests - not the American people.
This type of special interest driven politics has led 42% of Americans to declare themselves independents. And those independent Americans are uniting to change politics in America.
Therefore, we call upon all federal elected officials and candidates to sign a pledge that they will not accept health insurance and pharmaceutical industry contributions.
