Name: Paul Hellyer on Aug 17, 2008Comments: Bishop Roche lacks leadership skills and courage. He can't even reply to our letters. Instead of closing churches & gallivanting off to Sydney a totally expensive and time wasting exercise. He should be organising the launch of an evangelising initiative to spread Christianity to our fellow countrymen and to preach the truth of Christ to our poor benighted Muslims. Then our Churches would be full and young men would come forward to the Priesthood. Also he should see that the whole Faith is taught in our Catholic schools. Not the watered down protestanised version the poor kids get now. As to shortage of priests . .well this is just a red herring so he can rake in more cash. In reality there are thousands of Polish priest who would love to come to Britain and start reversing the decline in Faith and practice.Flag

Name: Luis Fern on Aug 17, 2008Comments: St. John the Evangelist parish in Allerton Bywater should not be closed. Bishop Arthur Roche must listen to the parishoners. If he doesn't, the Papal Nuncio and / or the Congregation for Clergy should take charge of this situation and dismiss Bishop Roche from his duties.Flag
