Dear Members of the Revere School Committee, I’m writing you as a concerned member of the community to urge you to vote against awarding Complete Cleaning any contracts to clean Revere’s public schools. I understand that the Revere School Committee will be voting on the awarding of these public contracts on Tuesday June 28th. Taxpayer dollars should not be awarded to irresponsible contractors that break the law and violate the public’s trust. Despite signing a contract in 2008 promising to pay their workers a living wage, and being required by law to do so, Complete Cleaning was found to be in violation of Revere’s Living Wage Ordinance. When approached by the City about its compliance with their obligation to pay a living wage, the company then tried to cover it up with fraudulent activity. Furthermore, the company is under investigation by the National Labor Relations Board for multiple abuses of workers’ rights, including harassment, threats, and even terminating workers in retaliation for exercising their right to organize. Employees of Complete Cleaning have also reported multiple violations of wage and hours laws. Complete Cleaning has clearly shown that it is an irresponsible contractor and that it is committed to lowering the standards for working families in the Revere area. For all these reasons, Complete Cleaning should not be awarded any new contracts. Please vote NO on awarding any contracts to Complete Cleaning.
