From May 2016, the Welsh Government is planning on withdrawing its funding for the Criminal Records Unit for Wales, which is currently being run by the WCVA and is free of charge to the third sector.

Free access to the DBC check service provided by WCVA will cease on 31 May 2016.

The vital service in the vetting of potential volunteers wishing to join charities is being cut. This decision will affect every charity in Wales and is potentially very harmful to the entire charity sector.

I am urging Welsh Government to re-think this decision.
