To: Republican Candidate for Virginia Governor, Bob McDonnell I commend you for your pro-life statements but just as faith without works is dead, so too, a policy statement without a practical plan of action is useless. As you know, Virginia budgets start and end with the governor. That is why I cannot support a candidate for governor who would sign a budget that could be used to fund abortion or Planned Parenthood. Therefore, if you want my support, I need you to make a practical, public, written promise that will save unborn children from senseless murder at the hands of abortionists. It is outrageous that my hard earned tax dollars are given every year to the abortion industry. Planned Parenthood and their competitors should be funded privately by abortion advocates, NOT MY TAX DOLLARS. The simple promise below does NOT require the legislature to agree with you BUT only requires you to agree to save babies. Please put the following promise in writing on the public record and give it to Virginians for Life: I, Bob McDonnell promise to VETO any and all sections of the Virginia budget that could be used to fund abortion or Planned Parenthood if the legislature fails to provide an amendment that defunds abortion services and Planned Parenthood. I pray that you will see the wisdom of doing this simple thing.
