Violence against Women is a Violation of Human Rights
We call upon Theresa May, the British Home Secretary, to challenge the actions of British officials who are reported to have argued in the Council of Europe that violence against women is not a violation of human rights. It is reported that they also want to alter the Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence so that it applies only in peacetime and not during armed conflict. If true, this is a serious issue and a travesty of justice as women are frequently physically and sexually abused during wars. The abuse of women, whether by domestic violence or through an act of war is an abuse of their Human Rights. Women are half the human race and demand justice.
