We, the undersigned, are concerned about the health risks the city of Victoria will face if a fixed site is not secured for the Needle Exchange before its eviction date of May 31, 2008. We feel that an interruption/discontinuation of a fixed- site exchange will jeopardize the ability of community members to protect themselves and others against diseases such as HIV and Hepatitis C. We recognize that Insite has facilitated positive changes in Vancouver, and feel a safe injection site would benefit the city of Victoria. We urge the City of Victoria, VIHA, and members of the downtown core to ensure a location for the Needle Exchange before May 31st 2008, and to work towards the establishment of a safe injection site in Victoria.
