| 61 | Gary Schutt | The Veterans of this great country have fought and died so that basic human rights would not be infringed upon by this government or any government. The Illinois politicians have, by passing this bill, slapped the Veterans in the face and basicly said your sacrifices mean nothing to us. The Veterans of Illinois, or any state, have earned the right to gather and enjoy one anothers comraderie. If they choose to smoke in "their" Legion Home they have earned that right and should be able to do so without interference from Government, many of whose members never served. First we were forced to wear seatbelts, now no smoking. What's next? Ban gatherings of Veterans because they may be considered a paramilitary organization? It's time for common sense to come back into our government and it once again listens to the wishes of the majority.
GOD BLESS AMERICA AND THE VETERAN! |

| 71 | Trish Fahey | Just as the criminal's rights have become more important than the victim's rights, this issue gives power to the government over the individual's choice. If a person chooses not to smoke or be in an environment where smoking is allowed, so be it. They call it personal choice. Along that same line, if a person chooses to smoke despite all the warnings to the contrary, so be it. They still call it personal choice. The issue of secondary smoke effects is addressed by the simple posting of a sign in the window. If the sign tells you it is an establishment where smoking is allowed, DON'T GO IN. There... as simple as that. Freedom of choice intact on all sides. Oh wait! That's too logical, isn't it! |

| 87 | Glenn J. Gavril | Veterans should be allowed the freedom to run their Post as they choose. This is our home and every member is a family member who has earned an equal voice to choose how our home is to be run. |

If a facility has the proper smoke filtration to control the second hand smoke from nonsmokers, what canit hurt. As a smoker I light up and then test the air flow so as not to have my smoke drift in the direction of those that are not smoking and reposition myself as needed. I think most smokers nowadays follow this policy. |
| 92 | David Nelson | We all have our rights because we as service people served and others paid the ultimate price. If non smokers have rights so do smokers. Same as any other recognised and legal group in America. etal: Legal citizens of the United States of America |
