I'm a Vietnam Era Veteran (U.S. Army) disabled 60 percent/ 100 percent unworkable. I served from the year I graduated from high school in 1973 til 1977. I relocated to the Winston Salem area in 1994 so, the W.G (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury, N.C. was the closest hospital in my region. There use to be a dentist at the V.A Clinic when I first arrived here. That was before they built the new facility (1997-98).

In an effort to save my teeth...I opt to have a series of root canals. But was never given any permanent fillings are permanent crowns! Never received any appointments for these procedures? So this year I contacted Senator Kay Hagan office to investigate. This is the second time that I've called for an investigation of this dental office in Salisbury. Both times they were allowed to investigate themselves.

First time I contacted the Undersecretary of Health were I was directed to Patients Advocate Keith Pierce (2010). Evidently he never recorded our session because, afterwards he didn't remember me contacting him.
Salisbury never contacted me with their results.

In 2008 I was allowed Fee Base from Salisbury VA to the dental office of Quadland, Shehan & Smith PA at 1601 S. Hawthorne Road in Winston Salem, N.C. I was treated by Dr. Smith an Dental Oral Surgeon. I still have his complete treatment plan...which would have cost the VA a total
of $1945.00. He never finished that treatment plan because...he told me that he wasn't receiving his payments in a timely manner.

Has any veterans received this bad or lack of decent dental treat through
the Veterans Administration. If so...please sign my petition that I want delivered to Robert A. McDonald...the new Secretary of Veterans Affairs Department. All I want is my mouth fixed before it causes more health problems. I'm already a Cancer survivor which I had surgery at the hospital in Salisbury...with post operative complications. That's another subject for another time.
