My thoughts are, If I am speeding, Swerving in and out of traffic, Then yes I deserve to be pulled over. But if I am cruising down the street DOING THE SPEEDLIMIT AND NOT DRIVING RECKLESS THEN LEAVE ME ALONE!Flag

Name: Meva Andriani on Sep 15, 2003State: VACountry: USComments: yeah i have gotten a ticket for my altered suspension when i was doing absolutly nothing wrong the cop just looked bored and had nothing better to do than to just pull me over and hand me a ticket. And after handing me the ticket the two cops high five each other. Which i thought was very disrespectful.Flag

Name: Philip Lamm on Sep 21, 2003State: VACountry: USComments: I agree that Va. laws should be changed to allow safe modifications and aftermarket equipment to certain levels. I also believe that officer training needs to be updated. Officers have way too much ego when it comes to harrrassing especially the younger generation. I was stopped driving my son's import. The officer was surprised to find and "old Man" driving but continued to dance around the car measuring it's height from the ground, checking the exhaust, putting a meter on the tint on the windows and disclosing the name of the previous owner and how many times he had stopped him and how much trouble he had had with him. The only thing he found out of line was window tint and I removed it as I said I would. My son has continued to be pulled over by the same officer who claims that the exhaust is illegal. He also told my son that I was told to change it. This was false as I was writing everything down that he was telling me {bumper height and such} and he said the exhaust was ok. My son was since stopped by the same officer again and told to put a factory exhaust on the car within a week or he would get a ticket. My son did put a factory type, baffled, single outlet exhaust on and was again stopped by the same officer who told him to replace the exhaust. He also measured the car height again and then told him his front turn signal bulbs were illegal. These were the same bulbs that he had my son take out to see if they were legal the month before. He also did not like where the front license plate was mounted. It is in the center of the front grill opening. The officer said for my son to drill holes in his front bumper and mount it there where it would be easier to see. It seems if you have any interest in your car and do anything to it, some officers see you as criminal. In one and a half years this has only resulted in one ticket for loud exhaust, although it passes VA State Inspection. Another thing is the officers have been known to tell the drivers of these cars that there car is ugly and thats why the factory didn't make it the way it was after it had been modified. What right and what business is it of the officer to give his opinion I am going to make an appointment with our local Delegate to find out what can be done. Enough is enough! My son is a full time college student with two part time jobs. He earned the money to buy his car and he earns the money for his college and books. He also paid to have the new baffled factory type muffler put on to keep the police from pulling him. It has not paid off as they continue to change their minds about what they want each time he gets stopped. Where do we go from hereFlag

Name: Miles Evelyn on Sep 23, 2003State: VACountry: USComments: Altered suspension should not be illegal as long as the vehicle height does not exceed maximum and minimum requirements. After market exhaust/intake should not be illegal as long as it is a properly functioning exhaust (according to VA state law)and does not produce excessive noise.Flag

Harley Davidsons are aloud to ride around with louder exhausts then us, yet nothing is done. I say its time to change this.Flag

Some people need to realize what this sport does-it keeps a lot of young people from getting into trouble with things like drugs and alcohol. So what if a car has a loud muffler and huge wheels. If the guy driving isn't high or drunk, then I consider it a positive message.Flag
