Name: Tiffany Jones on Feb 27, 2007Comments: It is unacceptable how VCU does not have adequate housing for their students. If a student does not receive housing then they are forced to either find an apartment / or other housing, or they must transfer. VCU needs to take this matter seriously and hear their students voices. Once again it is unacceptable how inadequate VCU housing is.Flag

Name: Kishona Lewis on Feb 27, 2007Comments: I am in total agreenment with this potition. I live in New York; if i cannot find housing for the next semester then i cannot attend school. I think the fact that VCU does not guarantee housing to uperclassmen is sending out the message to myself and fellow students that VCU really does not care about you once you have completed your freshman year. We are on our own. If VCU is going to accept out of state students, then they should be able to provide a place for them to reside so that they can complete their academic years at the school without hassle.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Feb 27, 2007Comments: It not right how the is not enough housing for everyone. VCU knew what they were getting into by admitting a large freshman class. And another thing, out of state students shouldnt even have to go through the process, how far are we away from home, we pay how much a year and we get treated like this!!!Flag

During my freshman year, I was not able to enjoy the on campus life because I and maybe 30 others were placed in an apartment complex beside Henrico High School. I am now a senior and it seems like the problem is becoming even worse.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Feb 27, 2007Comments: As an upcoming upperclassmen I am very disappointed with the housing system. If VCU wants to become the "largest school" with diverse students you need to guarantee everyone with housing. It is really unfortunate for those who are out of state because they are obviously being stressed about this issue. From the UNIV classes they were concerned about giving freshmens a stress free year. Well, this issue is obviously causing many stress to future sophomore s and many other upperclassmen students. There are places to live, yes, but the cost and transportation is the problem. Not everyone will be fortunate enough to buy a car and or place, especially if they're out of state. There needs to be more dorms built closer to campus. If parking was really a problem, VCU should mandate that freshmen do not bring their cars. Other colleges have stressed this to save parking space. Overall, we need more housing especially since VCU has a large acceptance rate.Flag

Name: Kenisha Kee on Feb 27, 2007Comments: I think that VCU is very foolish for this. VCU knew that when they accepted the Class of 2010 it was very large. Seeing that it was large they should have started building more upperclassman dorms so when the Fall of 2007 came around more sophomores would have had housing. I think that VCU was just money hungry and would accept all the students they could just to get money, knowing that their sophomore year they would have nowhere to stay. VCU housing is absolutely unacceptable.Flag

I feel that there needs to be more done to help out rising sophomores to find adequate housing in time. I had no idea when to start looking for an apartment, and now all the places I am looking at have waiting lists because they are all full up. I do not know what I am going to do and I feel VCU could have stepped in and helped me out.Flag

May students can barely afford to pay tuition nether the less provide rent payments for off-campus the housng lottery is unfair and Cabaniss Hall is not fit to house upperclassman if it is going to be an upperclassman dorm many improvements and renovations need to be made! I don't understand why VCU does not provide all the students with housing when we are students are paying for it!Flag

I signed up on the first day it was available and I recieved a very high number, where someone that I know recieved a very low number and they signed up four days later.Flag

Name: Amanda Scott on Feb 28, 2007Comments: VCU should have planned for the future. Yes we are the largest freshman class in the history of VCU (3,000+), yet not even half of us have housing. We should not have to stay at Cabaniss, and we should not be forced to get an apartment when many of us are already broke college students struggling to pay tuition.Flag
