PLEASE NOTE: This is a positive petition designed to promote a direct relationship with management. One of the great benefits for working for an airline, has always been Staff Travel. While the Virgin Blue Group internal staff travel agreement is very generous, it's agreements with other airlines leaves alot to be desired in comparison to other major airlines. Zonal Employee Discount Association ZED was formed in 1994 to simplify leisure travel arrangements for airline employees travelling on over 140 other airlines. The system of ID fares (ID90, ID50, etc.) was based on a percentage discount off the published full fare price for a route given a specific origin and destination for each ticket. To allow for more predictable fares, easier interline trip planning and ticketing, ZED created travel zones with specific pricing. Airlines within the ZED framework have variations on the agreements. These include the level of ZED fare charged (ZH, ZM, ZL for ZED high, medium and low) as well as embargoes and restrictions on code shares. So what is in it for the us Discounted travel on a range of airlines (over 140!). SYD-HKG with Qantas $180 each way LAX-SFO with Virgin $30 each way SYD-BKK with Thai $150 each way SYD-LHR with Virgin $260 each way Many of these airlines exempt staff travel passengers from paying certain taxes including fuel levies. Some airlines allow family members or nominated companions to travel with/without the employee. Each airline has it's own set of rules. Travel is standby in Economy Class only. So what is in it for V Australia Increase staff morale by being able to offer a wider range of staff travel benefits to employees at a minimal cost to the business. Better working relationship with other airlines. Better brand exposure to the world allowing fellow industry colleagues to travel with us. All travel is stanby on subload basis, allowing full revenue fares to continue to be sold. Revenue can still be collected from these passengers from onboard sales. We emplore the management of V Australia to join the ZED carriers agreement, enabling all it's staff to have access to the same benefits that staff at other airlines the world over enjoy.
