Comments: It seems to me that the ruling by the Augusta County BZA is the definition of arbitrary and capricious. If you can't fly rockets in a 500 acre field, where can you fly them? This activity occurs in similar places all over this country, so why should Augusta County be any different?

Comments: This location is the only area where rocketry supporters could fly rockets one weekend/month within a more than 400 mile radius. As farmers age and their land gets split up is gets increasingly difficult for educators, scout troops, and interested rocketry enthusiasts to find a location that supports more advanced rocketry, what is termed high power rocketry. Please don't kill one of the safest hands on educational hobbies in all of Virginia.

Comments: My 12-year old son and I have tremendously enjoyed participating in the VAST launches. VAST is a well-run club with knowledgeable leadership and members who have operated family-friendly, educational, safe, and very fun launch events. I support their efforts to regain use of the launch field in Swoope.

Having a local launch site helps the young people to develop wholesome activities, get involved, and have fun. It's a great learning opportunity, where people of various ages, experience, and interests can meet and enjoy the hobby.
