Name: Charlotte May on May 10, 2007Comments: I am shocked to learn that there are over 200 trucks daily utilizing this steep hill -- it is putting vehicles and pedestrian and bicycle traffic in a potentially dangerous and possibly life threatening situation! A stop sign at the top of the corner of Engelhard and Vandorf is not a solution -- the solution is to eliminate the potential!Flag

Name: Ron Van Noort on May 11, 2007Comments: Residential roads with sidewalks and bike paths is no place for heavy truck traffic. Most towns have legislation in place to divert heavy traffic to main thoroughfares to ensure safety and reduce noise in residential areas. i have not even seen signs warning truck not to gear down in the evenings. I have noticed that most of Aurora uses these back roads to save time. Trucks should use Yonge, Bayview, Bloomington & Wellington for heavy trucks. From Wellington you can enter the commercial and industrial areas directly from Industrial which eliminates the burden on the residential areas. Name: Gord Stott on May 11, 2007Comments: I am adverse to "Truck Traffic" on Vandorf Sideroad for the above mentioned reasons but ESPECIALLY for SAFTEY. If ONE life is spared by barring truck traffic it will be well worth while.I hope our local representatives will do the right thing and pass a bylaw banning truck traffic on Vandorf Sideroad.Flag

Name: Art Caston on May 11, 2007Comments: Either ban trucks on this stretch of Vandorf or close the access of Engelhard Drive to Vandorf. The stop sign there will only increase noise and pollution! Trucks had no problem using Engelhard as a cul de sac during the extended construction period on Vandorf.Flag

Name: George Semler on May 11, 2007Comments: I fully support this proposal to ban trucks. I think it is far more appropriate that truch traffic be restricted to Younge and Industrial Parkway. I would suggest the 3 way stop that was installed at Industrial Pkwy and Vandorf might be removed to ease truck flow.Flag

Name: Renzo Bon on May 11, 2007Comments: Transports trucks are by far the major source of noise, ahead of construction or industry, the higher speed due to the steep hill ,combine with poor aerodynamic and tire/road noise of a truck, causes vibrations, and noise above the recommended decibel levels for residential areas. This with a new asphalt, we can just imagine what it will be with the inevitable deterioration of the road, in the very near future if the transport truck will be allowed to keep using Vandorf Sideroad.Flag

Name: P. Caston on May 11, 2007Comments: I DO NOT want a stop sign on Vandorf and Englehart...why not block off Englehart (make it a closed road with no access to Vandorf) at Vandorf so that trucks can't access Vandorf A stop sign just increases global warming and increases the noise levels. A STOP SIGN IS NOT THE ANSWER TO THIS PROBLEM When Van Dorf was closed for months the trucks were able to get into the industrial area and they can do so in the future. This is not about a stop sign, this is about NO TRUCKS on Vandorf!!Flag
