Following the recent issue with Tesco (and various other retailers) and their suppliers, selling produce containing upto 30% Horse meat, there has been alot of distress and upset. I the undersigned understand that Tesco have made a public apology, however, under the circumstances, feel this is really not satisfactory. We are not a nation of Horse meat consumers, and consider Horses as companion animals and would never, ever, expect to find any percentage of their meat in produce sold in the UK. I have now made the decision to completely avoid Tesco altogether and will cease to make any purchases at any Tesco store world wide, until satisfactory steps have been taken. Many consumers have now decided to boycott Tesco to show their contempt for this issue. If Tesco trully care about their customers, they will consider the following; Make a very public and genuine apology. This is to be backed up with a gesture that may help start to restore customer confidence once again. Donate a substantial amount of money to a Horse welfare charity, so as to show the sincerity of their apology, and to go someway towards relieving some of the distress and upset that has been caused. Release information on the source of the Horse meat in question, answering currently unanswered questions that many of the public have. Take steps to ensure that nothing of this nature ever happens again, and publicly detail these, for consumer piece of mind. Until Tesco fulfil these requirements, I pledge, to avoid at all costs, petrol, home and supermarket stores trading under the name Tesco indefinately.
