To the Honorable Governor Rendell,
We are requesting your assistance in the epidemic issue of hit and runs in this state. The
numbers have more than doubled and are not slowing
by any means. The reason for the increase of this
remorseless crime is the laws. Drivers involved
are given very little if any jail time. This needs
to stop. Longer sentences must be enforced or more
innocent people will die. By passing the Marylee
Law in which we have proposed and sent to you it
would give drivers real jail time in fatal accidents. This would also mean probation for 5-10
years and loss of driving privledges indefinitely.
Having these new safeguards could dramatically cut
numbers of these incidents. As a mother of a child
lost to this heartless crime I am pleading for you
to consider this. No other family should have to endure the endless pain which has become the daily
norm of life. These drivers will pay and will think
twice about the crime in which they committed. We
know you can change the laws for us. Victims and
the grieving families have faith in you.
Thank you for your support,
Theresa Sautter (267)975-2879
