   Comments: VGN-NR212 bought August 2008, exactly the same problems as all the rest of you. Green lines, black screen, have to restore/run in safe mode. Sony denying that my model, well any NR models are affected. I have jsut emailed them back asking for the CEO's email address and a CREDIBLE explanation as to how they can categorically state that my model isn't affected when it is reported all over the net that ALL G84's are duff!! HP and Dell have the same problems with the same card. I think the person that said "Watchdog" may be a good idea has hit the nail on the head and I am going to look into contacting them. For so called top-end supplier, their customer service is very bottom-end!! Very disgruntled and will NEVER buy a Sony product again unless they come up trumps and do the right thing

   Comments: I purchased Sony Vaio NR21S in July, 2008, around May 2010 the display was showing some issues and then screen went completely balnk. I checked with sony vaio service center, they informed me that it is a problem with Nvidia graphics card and motherboard has to be changed. The estimation was very high - 19000 INR. I had to leave it, can I get some help?

   Comments: Bought my Vaio VGN-NR31J/S in October 2008.Couple months ago it started with the blurry vertical lines and windows vista freezes. I tried everything and ran advanced diagnostics with 3 different software applications and all were crashing the system half-way through testing the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) Geforce 8400M GT. Been researching all over the net and apparently all Geforce 8400M GT have an "incherent defect". I rang Sony but they want just £63 to inspect my system as they dont accept liability for my model. My advice even if Sony eventually fix it for free never buy from a laptop again from Sony consumers mean nothing to them anymore!

   Comments: I got my vaio fz340e in mid 2008, then faced the same problem on March 2010. Contacted sony and they kindly replaced my motherboard for free! HOWEVER, two days ago, I got similar problem, again! Blue scree and hardware malfunction, couldn't run my laptop under normal mode for more than an hour. It's really annoying! I feel so disappointed with sony. How can they let it happen once again, i wonder nvidia and sony never ever solve the problem! My 2nd motherboard lasted even shorter than the older one!

   Comments: Hey I've the vgn-ar51j and had the defect around 2010. Got it fixed at PC world for £200. Lasted till Oct 2011 where it happened a second time. Really disappointed with Sony and Nvidia.

    Comments: since yesterday my vaio AR41S had the mentioned problem. white stripes in the bios screen during startup and later on in the starting up procedure also white lines.then blue screen. reinstalled windows but as soon as the videocard driver is installed hte computer won't boot anymore. as it is now more then 3 years old and after reading the price for repair i will just run this notebook on the windows VGA driver as long as it will still work in this way

    Comments: i purchase a VGN AR630e in 2008. it has the defective 8400m gt graphics card installed. i called sony about fixing it and they said they wouldnt fix it because the laptop is out of warranty. i will never buy another sony product for as long as i live. and i will advise others to do the same

    Comments: I have also bought a sony VGN-FZ180E and today it let me down with same problem as others. The nvidia GPU is defective. But sony tells me that my I am 2 months late for the guarantee! I would have kept and use this laptop if it didn't have this problem and now because of sony I have to spend to buy a new laptop. Sony you will never have me or my friends as costumer. You suck because you can't take your responsibility.

Sony tells me that my I am 2 months late for the guarantee! Shame on Sony. You lost a good customers (I bought 4 Vaio within the last 2 years)

    Comments: I bought two of vgn-fz180e and both have the exact same problem. Screen's show either green or red strips and they are pretty much sitting in the corner collecting dust. $800 for each one and I have to deal with crap video card, that's just beyond nuts in this market/day and age.
