Even if it turns on it doesnt display any thing on the screen. I tried to contact the sony guys to order for a new mother board but they say, in order to talk to the technical support i have to pay $ 40 because i am out of warranty. My laptop is out of warranty just 1 month before my video card screwed up.
I trying to get the info details of my mother board so that i can search for it online and i can fix it up my self.
Sony service is disgusting. I would prefer everyone not to buy sony laptops.
I protest for some positive action to be taken by SONY. |

One would think when you spend that much on a "decent" laptop and with a known issue they would cover it.. Especially since they were reimbursed by Nvidia for the issue. |

It start up with blue dotted screen and after that it goes onto window start up solution. I never expected this kind of quality from sony. I am utterly disappointed with sony. Then when they did own up to it they took it in for repair. They took two months to fix it and send it back, at least i though they had fixed it. I experienced the same problem again just after receiving it and now it has to be sent back. The service has been terrible, with no accountability, a total shambles. |

GPU works when heated up (by jamming fan) to 90C, then allowed to cool back to 50C ("speedfan"). Will not work otherwise - green lines, 4bit resolution).
Looking at MBX-165 replacement M/B w/ nVidia 8600 GT (eBay $AU220). Might try soldering my burnt out chip first to save the $220...
Anyone tried this successfully (or not)?

Never again Sony Vaio!
I bought the laptop in January 2008 for more an 12.000sek (bought Notebok in Sweden) and have constant problems with heating and graphics.
Had different notebook from 2003 and never had problems with other notebook.
I thought until a few days ago before that it only deals with my Vaio, but now I found the vaio forum that many people have the same problem and that Sony might ignore os.
I apologize because I do not speak English but I understand English. |
| 243 | I have a sony AR590E with the nvidia 8600M GT chip in it. After about 2 years it stopped booting. The BIOS beeps 3 times (1 long, 2 short) indicating a failure of the graphics card. I contacted sony and they refused to help. They estimated $700 to repair, which is what a new laptop with similar specs would sell for. Never buying another sony product ever again. |

My computer only gets worse and worse. No use to try anything, re-install OS, restore... waste of time! The graphic chip dies! I have to spend $740 for repair, while Nvidia 8400 is being recalled. SONY should recall this model too! It is just unfair that my 2000-dollar desktop breaks down after 2 years! Sony should ask Nvidia for the repair money, not us!
