| 101 | Kanwal Singh | I have sony VAIO FZ-290 who has started to have the same issue. When I boot, immediately, display is corrupted, even BIOS screens are not displayed correctly. I did not expect such a lousy production from Sony. |
| 102 | Earl Justice | I have an VGN-FZ180U and have the same exact thing happen and Sony said the same thing to me |
| 103 | D Bowes | Same issue on the FZ21S, has always gotten a little hot and now the graphics card has gone after 16 months. |
| 104 | Stuart Haywood | my nvida 8600 failed on my Sony VGN-FZ21S five months out of warranty. |
| 105 | Craig | I got the blue lines 4 days ago and have tried to do everything in my power to fix it (well I stopped short of popping the card out of the motherboard and replacing it) |
| 106 | chris hall | Vaio laptop FZ18E. Graphics card Nvidia 8400m GT has given up the ghost. Been emailing and phoning (@ 35p a minute) Sony support for 3 weeks now but still getting nowhere.
Anybody want a very smart doorstop? |
| 107 | Mattias Segerdahl |
| 108 | Dave Edwards | I have a SONY FZ21S which failed with a graphics chip (nvidia 8600m) problem 4 months out of warranty. Sony will not repair it without further cost to me. |
| 109 | Garry Sedgwick | My NVIDIA GeForce has quit on my Vaio VGN-AR61M after 16 months, 4 months out of warranty.
If these chips are defective, why do I have to pay for my laptop to be repaired?? |
| 110 | Oscar Ruiz | I have a Vaio FZ 180E and a month ago it stopped working, with the famous green and pink lines all over the screen. Now I can only work in SafeMode. |
| 111 | Bruce Shepherd | My Sony vaio VGN-FZ21Z has now stopped working due to this common problem of the NVIDIA card collapsing. I get a blue screen when booting up, which states problem code 0x00000124. This problem is widely known in the sony laptop community and I am extremely disappointed that my laptop has now given in after only 2 years. |
| 112 | Jaydee | One more with the nvidia issue, blue screen, parallel stripes, just working in safe mode or with windows 7. if you disable the 8400m gt driver, no way to put it back. vaio fz18e, i guess all fzs are going down. |
| 113 | Bob Lishman | I have a Sony All in One Desktop (which is really a laptop in disguise) which has a nVidia GM8400M grphics chip that failed today after 16 months ... 4 months out of warrenty. Windows will not start (BlueScreen) UNLESS I disable the gpu in Device Manager ... so I know its the GPU thats faulty. Sony SHOULD (like other manufactures) repair these machines within a reasonable time (that in the UK is described as 5 years, not 1) period of purchase. |

| 120 | Philippeau | FZ21M |
| 121 | De Carvalho Vincent | Puce grillée 4 mois après la fin de la garantie, sony refuse la prise en charge gratuite pour vice caché ---> devis 853.78€. Inadmisssible! |
| 122 | Brett | Hi i have got a FZ21Z, have wrote on the VAIO forum about my problems, long story short, second time now the screen is running with lines and dots all over it with the desktop really enlarged.
Dont always work properly in safe mode.
And majority of the time it gets proper hot.
Had this 15 months, 3 months out of warrenty. |

| 128 | G Desogus | Same problem here with a Sony FZ21Z, 5 months out of warranty. I have spoken to Sony who claim not to have any knowledge of this being a common problem and are asking for £700 to replace the motherboard. |
| 129 | Stuart D. Benson | I have only owned my Sony 16 months and cannot believe the problems I am having. While Dell and Apple have done the honorable thing, SONY technical support deny a problem even exists. |
| 130 | Anonymous | Very mad about this...I also have a sony and has the display problem. |
| 131 | Peter Ricketts | Traditionally being a loyal Vaio customer, I will be never retaining Vaios again. |
| 132 | Candice Contet | NVIDIA® GeForce® 8400M GT failed in my Sony Vaio VGN-FZ290 after only 18 months of soft use. Still hoping Sony is going to cover the replacement of the defective chip. Currently in touch with their Customer Relations Department. |
| 133 | shaun hoffman | I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ180E with the Nvidia 8400m GT and the display no longer functions correctly. It is a problem with the GPU and not the display/monitor.
From what I have read and researched I seem to be having the same problem as many other users of this particular series of Nvidia cards. A faulty design incapable of handling the heat produced seems to be the culprit. I even had a computer tech. open the computer and look at it and he said that the Nvidia chip (built into the motherboard) has risen and needed to be soldered again.
I find this highly unacceptable that a computer that is only around 18 months old (from the time of the problem) is already in need to replacement.
I have a Toshiba laptop that is over four years old and still works properly.
I really hope Sony will do something about this because at this time I would never purchase a Sony product again. |

| 141 | Anonymous | Sony Vaio VGN FZ-21Z
GPU and subsequently motherboard stopped working after 18 months exactly. |
| 142 | Alex Ritchings | i am very upset it took me ages to save for my FZ21Z and now this im shocked and feel totaly ignored. |
| 143 | Anonymous | My Sony Vaio VGN-FZ283BN is four months out of warrantee and suffers from a faulty NVidia GeForce 8400M GT. Even a standard VGA driver produces blue flickering stripes across much of the screen and blue screens. I have been told that I can pay for a diagnostic and any needed hardware by Sony, despite my attempts to point their attention to the Dell, HP, and Apple law suit. |
| 144 | Tarna Eduard | Sony Vaio VGN-NR31Z/S Nvidia 8400M GT - dead video , blue stripes all over screen and full of ascii characters all over screen in DOS mode. Unable to start unless you start in VGA safe.
Just 13 months of World of Warcraft ..
Piece of crap junk hardware... Out of warranty, ofc . |
