Virginia Department of Motor Vehicle Code Revision for Gender Designation.
Bill Summation: The current Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles Code requires gender variant persons to undergo surgery prior to receiving the appropriate gender designation on their driver's license. The current law compells them to spend tens of thousands of dollars to receive appropriate designation from the State, which violates the 13th Amendment of the United States Constitution (Commerce Clause). Please support your Virginia neighbors by supporting HR Bill 47XXY, which would extract the surgery requirement from the existing code. The overwhelming onus placed upon our gender variant neighbors is unfair and we should say "YES" to HR Bill47XXY.

I really thought this might just float around in the void for a while but seeing all these people jump on board is honestly kind of overwhelming in the best way. It feels like the tide is turning and maybe we can actually stop people from jumping through these impossible hoops just to exist legally.

THE STATE SHOULDNT CONTROL THIS. LET PEOPLE BE WHO THEY ARE.
finally! about time virginia caught up with the rest of the world and stopped making people jump through these expensive hoops.
This is just common sense. Nobody should be forced into surgery just to get an ID that matches how they live their life every day.
it is a total waste of money for everyone involved. hope this bill passes soon.
Ridiculous requirement. Medical decisions are private and have nothing to do with a license ID.

So glad someone is finally calling this out. Its unfair and honestly pretty discriminatory to keep it this way.
