The Economy has taken it's toll everywhere, but especially on the horse racing industry. This year was so bad that Idaho's Les Boise Park did not even open its doors and Wyoming Downs only opened for a four week season causing Utah horse owners to lose hundreds of thousands of dollars in expenses and leaving them with no where to run their horses. Paramutual wagering supplements the purses in these states and keeps the horse racing industry alive. Utah horse owners have been supporting tracks from other states to keep Utah's race horse business going. Utah horse owners need paramutual wagering to support the racing purses and to give them a close, viable and dependable place to run their horses independently of these other states. Additionally Paramutual wagering will help Utah's economy by providing additional tax money revenue that can help support our schools, maintain our highways and improve the overall economy of the state. Paramutual betting in Utah would not only revive the virtually non-existant Utah Thoroughbred racing business but it would save the Quarter Horse Racing industry as well. Please help us gain the needed signatures to petition Utah Legislators to put Paramutual Wagering on the Voting Ballot.
