The United States and Canada played an epic match on August 6th in the semifinals of the Olympic women's soccer tournament, with the US edging Canada 4-3 with a goal in stoppage time of extra time by Alex Morgan, negating a hat trick by Canada's Christine Sinclair.  The US would go on to win Gold with a 2-1 win over Japan, while Canada would win its country's first medal in a traditional team sport since 1936 by defeating France in the bronze medal match 1-0.

Both countries' soccer federations are in the midst of planning tours in celebration of the teams' Olympic accomplishments, and my thought is that the US and Canada should play each other in Chicago (the headquarters of US Soccer and a centrally-located city within the North American continent) as part of their post-Olympic schedule.  Add your voice to mine in requesting this opportunity for all of us on both sides of the 49th Parallel to show our appreciation for these women and their success on the Olympic stage.
