Comments: It's unbelievable to me that the USDA has still not confiscated Queenie from Will Davenport. Although Tina and Jewel were finally taken away, poor Queenie was left behind to suffer. Why do you allow Davenport to keep her even after he has been cited numerous times for mistreating and neglecting animals in his care. You have a responsibility to make sure Queenie is rescued from her sad and deplorable situation. Please get her to PAWS ASAP!!!

Comments: Using animal acts for human entertainment is obscene, unethical and unhealthy for the animals. Allowing someone who has had animals removed and been prosecuted for maltreatment to have them again is crazy. Please allow these elephants safe haven with PAWS.

Comments: Although Jewel and Tina are doing well in the San Diego Zoo, I am told, Queenie has been left behind with Davenport for months since the other 2 were taken to San Diego Zoo. Now I learn that Davenport has made a deal with the San Antonio Zoo to take Queenie. What a travesty this is! If Sec. Vilsack and his employees can't do their job of protecting elephants, I'd like to see President Obama name another Sec. of Agriculture. I see practically nothing that Vilsack has done for elephants. Queenie should go to a sanctuary and I understand that both sanctuaries have offered her safe haven. Please don't send this poor elephant to this horrible zoo! Lucky, the elephant already there deserves sanctuary, too, as it's clear she's not cared about either. That zoo director has got real problems and a horrible elephant exhibit and has kept Lucky by herself for more than 2 1/2 yrs. She has no shade and filthy water to drink out of and bathe in and very little enrichment. Please get Lucky, too. Do your job Vilsack. People from all over the world have signed a petition to send Lucky to a sanctuary - over 5,000 to date. Look on www.voiceforanimals.org Please don't send Queenie to San Antonio. There's nothing there but 3/4 acre and an unhappy elephant that's been by herself too long. PLEASE DO WHAT'S RIGHT FOR ELEPHANTS. I am a taxpayer and I don't think we have to keep signing petitions and writing letters for the USDA to do their job!

Comments: No big animals like elephants should be in zoos or circuses when we have Paws and the Tn Sancuary, etc. No animals at all should be in circuses. See Circus Soleil; it is wonderful and no animals at all. How cruel a life to have to live. We can learn about elephants in other ways. Are you kidding me? Do you actually believe these animals can be trained with love and a treat? Why do you think they eventually break down and kill their trainers. None of us feel sorry at all. Sorry! Sorry! Sorry!

Comments: Please don't send Queenie or others like her to another zoo!!! Confiscated animals should not be placed back into places of stress and public exhibition, in confined spaces with little interaction and limited access to a natural environment. Sanctuaries exist to care for abandoned, abused and retired elephants. They do not use sanctuary animals for public display or any form of exhibition or promotion. Elephants who are sent to a sanctuary enjoy a stable existence for the rest of their lives. Zoos consistently trade, relocate and loan elephants to other zoos, often severing important social bonds among elephants and their offspring. Criteria should be developed for the placement of confiscated elephants, and animal welfare groups and sanctuaries should be included in the discussion. Animal welfare organizations and individuals have invested time and money into the monitoring of abusive conditions in circuses and, often, through their lobbying and intervention, have saved elephants like Tina & Jewel. They should have a voice in the critical issue of placement of confiscated animals. Thank you!

Comments: Please do not allow any Elephants to be forced into an abusive situation! As long as they are in Circuses and Zoos it is abuse! They belong with their own kind in a sanctuary where they can be free and live out their lives with their own kind as they are very loving and social and form a bond with each other just like people do! Please,Please do not allow this anymore and help save the ones who are suffering right now.Thank you Tammy

Comments: It's not surprising that elephants forced to perform in circuses finally get to the point when they can't take it anymore and run amok and/or lash out at their so-called trainers. elephants are wise, intelligent animals and should not be abused and humiliated and enslaved for cheap entertainment. they deserve our care and respect. think cirque du soleil - a spectacular circus with no live animals.

Comments: when I called Vilsack.'s office to ask him to send Queenie, a woman who answered my call told me that Davenport sold Queenie to zoo in Texas. Is this excuse for Vilsack to do nothing to help Queenie? I am so sick of injustice!

We all know what elephants look like, we also know how intelligent they are...how intelligent is mankind to allow this cruelty to continue...PLEASE HELP THEM.
