Currently USA Ultimate is taking nominations for the USAU Hall of Fame. The USAU states the following with regards to the Hall of Fame; "The Ultimate Hall of Fame was established in 2004 to honor the men and women "who by their deeds as Ultimate players and/or contributors, and by the example of their lives, merit acknowledgement by all individuals involved in the sport of Ultimate." Unfortunately, the current nominating process requires nominations to be for either playing or contributing and if for playing requires the nominee fit into either the Open or Women's division. We, the undersigned, greatly respect USAU's efforts to recognize outstanding players and their contributions to the sport. We believe the sport of Ultimate has grown and changed to the point nominees should be considered as nominees, regardless of what division(s) they played in and should be judged on total merit, combining on and off-field accomplishments. We believe the current nominating process is flawed and requires players be unnecessarily categorized into divisions. We believe the current nominating process ignores the reality of a sport and of players who have grown with the sport, often playing in three divisions throughout their competitive career. We ask USAU to change the nomination process to a simple process by combining the Open and Women's Hall of Fame divisions into one Hall of Fame, division and gender neutral and to eliminate the requirement for nominations to be made either based on contributions or player.
