Name: John Altendorf on May 4, 2009Comments: In addition to the points of this petition, would it be possible for there to be a universal form that could be filled out and presented to meet officials (maybe at the time of picking up the competitor packet) that alerts them of the possibility of a record being set. It has been difficult at times to get the necessary officials to an event area prior to the record happening so it can be officially observed. I think this might assist in the documentation process of a new record.Flag

Name: Mary Trotto on May 4, 2009Comments: I am confused about your petition number 3 the records committee already accepts records from national and world championships without any other documentation from the athlete. I will address number 2. If you rely on meet directors, I fear that some records will never be recorded. Master athletes who run at all comers track and field meets or at association championships, can not always rely that the meet director will in fact follow up on submitting the record. It would be nice, but I think the athlete has to be proactive in this regard if they want their records to be recognized in a timely fashion.Flag
