Name: Nicole on Apr 21, 2008Comments: These students were doing this for the sake of humanity and justice that we as privileged citizens expect every day. They were PEACEFULLY and silently fighting to have Penn State be one of the universities that can proudly say it doesn't endorse sweatshops; it doesn't condone injustice. By pressing charges or taking disciplinary action against the 31, Penn State is silencing the student voices that it CLAIMS should be free to express and stand up for whatever they want. After all, isn't that what college is about How hypocritical to punish the students that were brave enough to take their college education and use it to stand up for what is right. As Martin Luther King Jr. stated "injustice anywhere, is a threat to justice everywhere."Flag

Name: Rebecca Phillips on Apr 21, 2008Comments: Right now I am thoroughly embarrassed to say that I am an alumni of the Pennsylvania State University. President Spaniers behavior in this matter is utterly appalling and is making the rest of the people who were once proud to be called Penn Stater's thoroughly ashamed. This gives cause to wonder why he still holds this prestigious post. At least these students have to guts to stand up for what is right! You should be supporting them sir.Flag

We cannot have success with honor until we successfully honor those willing to stand up for what they believe. Penn State students clearly believe that workers rights and human rights have no borders. We hope the administration can stand with us on this point.Flag

Name: Stephanie Gilmour on Apr 21, 2008Comments: Support the Designated Suppliers Program. As such a huge University, we need to use our influece in positive ways, and signing on to the DSP is one step in the right direction. Also, considering Penn State is a "student centered university" you should be in support of activism, and students showing that they care about something and want positive change. By not signing onto the DSP, Penn State is showing suppressing the voice of the students.Flag
