We the students of Farleigh Dickinson University want to be treated with respect, honesty, and with our best interests at heart. We pay thousands of dollars each semester for the opportunity to sit in a classroom for a few hours a week and learn as much as possible from our professors. Unfortunately, all too often, we do not get our money's worth. The professors are unprofessional, unclear, lazy, and sometimes just flat-out incompetent. The content is weak, non-informative and sometimes useless. Nearly every current and former student in the B.A. of Individualized Studies has had at least one of these professors. The courses teach little and the cost of taking the course is high. All too often, we find out that our account status has changed and we are no longer allowed to proceed with our academic plans until we've paid a hefty fee. Sometimes, a student must sit out a few semesters in order to save up the thousands of dollars charged per course in order to pay the high salaries of Deans and professors. All too often, we call in to seek advice but are dealt with rudely on the phone. All too often, we need to physically drive down to the campus to take of simple matters that could have been conducted over email or telephone. All too often, we request a confirmation in writing from a university representative but are turned down and expected to submit to the word of the university. Rarely are we given a clear explanation of how the university intends to conduct itself. Rarely are we given instructions on how to go about the academic process. Many of us are stuck. Farleigh Dickinson University understands how important a university degree is to us, and understand how we see it as the key to our future value and use this knowledge to extort money from us. This must be stopped. The procedures must change and there must be accountability. Many of us have lost considerable money in this endeavor and we want it returned.
