I am a Native American (Cherokee) singer songwriter and environmental educator living in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I am hosting a CD release concert on October 13th for an album titled Children of the Earth, environmental songs for kids of all ages. The CD contains over twenty original ecologically-themed songs for kids and includes kids' voices singing with me on many of the songs. The kids were recorded at the Leslie Science and Nature Center in Ann Arbor using solar energy! I will give a $5 discount on the purchase of a CD to anyone who walks, rides a bike, or takes public transportation to the show. I have also forwarded information about the IEN Unplug Day to my list.
I will also host a performance of Children of the Earth at the American Indian Health and Family Services in Detroit on October 19th from 7-9pm. Donations will benefit the youth prevention programs at AIHFS.

As it is in the 40' degree and perhaps going into the 30's, I will be wearing sweats, flannel sheets, long warm robe. I have NOT turned on the gas for the season, and like last year, I really waited till it got un-bearably C-O-L-D....Come-on y'all can do the same. As for my coffee, looks like I will be drinking bottled water, and if need be eat sandwiches for dinner/and or cold cereal. Yea, I Can Do !!!!! So Can YOU............. |

I have turned off countless TV sets in Doctor's offices, gyms, you name it, that were running just in case someone might happen in and have the "burden" of spending silent time with themselves. I plan on spending the day in quiet reflection in the woods, walking to my destinations, reading, drawing and story telling with my daughter. Let there be peacefulness on Earth that day.
