On January 27th, 2017, Milo Yiannopoulos will speak at the University of New Mexico, invited by the UNM chapter of Young Americans for Liberty. If you aren't sure who Milo is, feel free to google him. Milo is a British journalist and tech editor for Breitbart News, a (conservative) news and opinion website.

Examples of articles he has written: “There’s No Hiring Bias Against Women in Tech, They Just Suck at Interviews” , “Why Equality and Diversity Departments Should Only Hire Rich, Straight White Men.” , and “The Left Chose Islam Over Gays. Now 100 People Are Dead or Maimed in Orlando", where he states "How many more innocent gays need to die before we admit that America, and the world, has an Islam problem? I don’t mean a 'radical Islam' problem or an 'extremist Islam problem.' He is also affiliated with the Alt-Right movement who, according to the Anti-Defamination League, "encompasses a range of people on the extreme right who reject mainstream conservatism in favor of forms of conservatism that embrace implicit or explicit racism or white supremacy".

Milo was also recently permanently banned from Twitter for racist comments against Ghostbuster star, Leslie Jones, calling her "yet another black dude" on Twitter. In yet another offensive article he wrote for Breitbart, he said "Patty is the worst of the lot. The actress is spectacularly unappealing, even relative to the rest of the odious cast. But it’s her flat-as-a-pancake black stylings that ought to have irritated the SJWs." Patty is the character Leslie Jones played in the new Ghostbusters movie.

Why would anyone want this man to speak at the University of New Mexico, a supposed "safe campus"?

At universities he has visited such as American University, UC Irvine, Rutgers University, UCLA, and Depaul University, there were protests. I want to go a step further, I propose a petition to stop Milo Yiannopoulos from speaking at UNM.
