As an honor student at UNLV, I am fed up with the academic inequality UNLV's current academic policies create for us. Problem #1: Our GPA does not in any way reflect the rigor of our course load. An a in honors English is not the same as an A in English 101, yet they both equal a 4.0 GPA. Problem #2: Some professors choose to add + and - to letter grades while others choose not to. A 92% grade (A-) is worth a 3.66 toward our GPA, but a 90% grade in ENG 101 can easily give one a 4.0 GPA. How is any of this fair to honor students?
