I propose that in order to improve the quality of life in the world we introduce a cashless society, if we go ahead with this it will have several benefits for the community. I believe it will increase the detection of crime and therefore will lead to its reduction. In doing so it will lower the violence in our lives. Also it will reduce the black market that is based on cash, therefore lowering its possibilities of success. This will give our government the funds to better social welfare programs, pay off debt, as well as increase spending on all forms of needed infrastructure such as military amongst others. Furthermore, it will promote greater efficiency in the economy by eliminating the costs of managing cash in terms of counting, securing, and transporting it to banks and other commercial establishments; as well as to other countries. National privacy legislation needs to be strengthened however before the introduction of a cashless economy. The technology for cashless transactions for the visually impaired can and will be developed so that they are not left-out of the means to execute cashless transactions. The use of the internet and mobile phone to perform cashless transactions are with us already, it needs some work but we can do it if we put our minds to it. America currently has the technology to become a cashless society. With future research, current cashless methods can be refined while new cashless methods of making purchases can be developed.
