The objective of our petition has been met as the efforts toward unionist unity in these constituencies have come to fruition. I appreciate the dedication shown by those who backed this goal. We must observe the upcoming election closely to ensure this unity holds firm.

We the undersigned wish to show our support for unionist unity across Northern Ireland, but particularly in the Constituencies of South Belfast and Fermanagh & South Tyrone at the 2010 General Election where an agreed candidate could see the SDLP and Sinn Fein each lose a seat and unionism send two extra representatives to Westminster. We recognise that party politics should be set aside in these constituencies for the greater good of unionism and the needs of people living within those Constituencies.

Too many seats lost to republicans because of split votes. Put the country first for once.

Belfast needs a real unionist voice. Get together or get out of the way.

Too much ego involved. Just get the job done.
