Name: Anonymous on May 10, 2007Comments: What we wear is not going to help the business anymore. we should be issued with either an uniform to combat things such as lateness and things like that or a Allowance to buy certain clothes that capita wants us to wear. U carnt expect to give us money and then tell us what to spend it on.Flag

Name: Anonymous on May 10, 2007Comments: And does everyone The call center is full of grip people and I think having a dress code is a good idea. Also why should Capita supply us with uniform when we don't look after the stuff we already have. For example look at the state of the toilets; either people have no idea how to use toilets or some people are making a mess on purpose... Out of the two I don't know what is worse...Flag

The customer should either supply a uniform to ware or offer an alloance to cover the cost of purchasing cloths that meet the new dress code.Flag

Name: Anonymous on May 11, 2007Comments: Even though in principle i beleave that there should be a dress code and because is have always worn a shirt and trousers does not mean that i agree with the way they have done this. The whole way that this has been implemented is the usual way for capital., (ham fisted). In my view their will only be cause for upsetting people again. Sending agents home only punishes the ones that have to stay behind and cover the missing people. As a whole it all stinks and should not be allowed. If you want us to wear a standard uniform then supply it like you have in the "special" team redFlag

Name: W14 on May 11, 2007Comments: Ahh, I see the flaming has already started. On the yes to uniforms side of things, yes you look smart at work, and it creates a more professional atmosphere and in many senses makes people feel better. I personally don't like it when people turn up in all sorts of dribble to work eg: Extremely short skirts, blokes with trousers hanging around their backsides and with T-Shirts sporting huge pointless logos. Lets face it the dresscode is widely abused, and no one can deny that, giving Capita more ammunition to enforce smart dress. But then if Capita insist on a strict dress code, why don't they do as DSG do now and maybe provide the uniforms This in itself would cure the problem outright. Captia want a smart workforce and the workforce do not have to shell out paying for it. Simple answer, money. Un-neccessary expenditure. Even though Capita make millions, it is easier to the employees to pay for it. As being as you are also behind the scenes employees you don't need to brandish any sort of insignia. So Capita in that aspect don't have to supply them, they could if they wanted to, but choose not to. Turning up to work smart isn't exactly a unreasonable request, fair enough some people may not be able to afford it. That is when (in theory) you approach your immediate superior and advise them that you cannot do so for a certain amount of time. Obviously providing the said manager has an amount of common sense and doesn't go all out at you, in order to impress their superiors, or just for the power trip, for whatever pointless reason. On the minus side, as people have said, theres typically the fact that no one is really going to see you on the other end of the phone. Unless they have extremely good psychic powers, which is unlikely. Also the fact that some people feel more comfortable in other clothes besides shirt and tie / blowse etc. Smart casual does work, and has done so for many many years providing people don't take advantage all of the time. I for one work better when I feel comfortable, not a big fan of shirts and ties myself. Staying smart casual, still creates a professional atmosphere but at that a more relaxed one, which in my oppinion is better. I personally would say no to a strict dress code, although I do believe they have their advantages, in this aspect I think they are un-neccessary and partly being introduced to annoy, and cause general annoyance to the workforce. Asking employees to part with money when they don't really have to is always going to outright annoy them. Why fix something if it already works Yet another brilliant idea in Capitas chain of command. Think smart - Think Capita.Flag

If you have to pay for your own company uniform with logo, or safety gear, that is wrong, but if you are just being asked to wear a shirt and tie at work, get a damn life, stop being a brat and join the real world. Most of us have to wear a shirt and tie to work - that's life, that's part of having a job, no-one pays for them for you. I dread to think what you must look like at a job interview or a wedding if you don't have a shirt.Flag

Name: Someone Who Escaped The Evil Clutches Of Crapita on May 19, 2007Comments: forget the uniform and the dress policy just get a new job. anyone who continues to work for crapita without looking for employment elsewhere deserve all the shit they get. Crapita have proved over and over again that they don't listen to what people have to say so having a petition like this is a fruitless waste of time. One thing this petition does show is the level of illiterate crap that they employ. Running a technical call centre with people who speak little English and don't know what a hard drive is irresponsible. no wonder they fail to meet targets and are always being fined by DSG. If I could get away with it I would give Chris Ellis a good kicking cos that's what he deserves. The customers who call tech guys for support are real people who need help but Crapita don't care all they care about is profit. Every one should leave whilst they can because it is sinking fast and soon other employers won't employ ex Crapita staff because they don't want their customers to learn that they have ex Crapita staff working for them.Flag
