Name: Jude Austin on Aug 21, 2006State:Country:Comments: JudasFm on FF.net "I must be allowed to defend myself against the charges laid at my door."--Mr Darcy If someone takes the time to comment on my work, I feel it's only good manners to be able to thank them; similarly if two or three people ask the same question (it has happened to me!) I would like to be allowed to respond to them PUBLICLY, to avoid getting the same question over and over again. I can understand chapters of nothing more than author notes being banned, but please, please reconsider this 'no replying to reviewers' policy! Public replying doesn't hurt or offend anyone and it helps strengthen the friendly atmosphere between writer and reviewer.Flag

Name: Ryan Cr on Aug 24, 2006State:Country: USComments: This is Rycr from ff.net. I can definitely see why this rule was implemented. I saw quite a few chapters that had massive lists of replies at the beginning that I had to scroll past to get to the story. The only harm done is causing me to waste a couple seconds, unless they're worried about the Word Count being misleading... So, it was a mild problem, but they went about fixing it in the wrong way. I think that authors should just be required to put review replies in an Author comment at the end of each chapter. That way, if you don't want to read them, you hit the End key and move on to the next chapter! That would be a whole lot easier and less annoying to authors.Flag

I, and apparently most (if not all) of you, feel the same way. I say let there be change, and while I'm at it, let there be song lyrics in fanfics, 'cause it's only okay as long as we credit the lyricist, rightFlag

It's like a bond between the author and the reader. These review responses aren't hirting anyone. It makes no sense to just randomly take them away.Flag

Name: Jenny Thomson on Aug 26, 2006State: PACountry: USComments: Man, WTF's up with this new rule I agree, there's nothing wrong with replying to reviews in your chapters! I am Tucker's Mayflower on FFN, and I sign this petition knowing that I'm not the kind of authoress who has the time (or attention span) to reply to reviews as soon as I get them, so I lose track of which reviews I've replied to and which I haven't. (Trust me, I've tried that other reply method and got all confused-ed...)Flag

Name: Samuel Barker on Aug 26, 2006State: INCountry: USComments: shadow-spawn180 on ff.net. I heard about this petition on JudasFm's profile. She responds to her reviews in her stories, yeah, and they're usually pretty funny responses! I don't think that someone should be punished for publically expressing gratitude towards reviewers. Plus, if the story's REALLY good, and if the responses don't detract from the story (which they usually don't), I see no reason why it should be against the rules. FIGHT THE POWER! Peace, I'm out.Flag

Is this a scheme to get more people to sign up Not allowing writers to reply to anonymous reviews Have e-mail providers contacted you and asked that you make it so that the writer must e-mail, therefore filling our in boxes with e-mails that could have been avoided You offer a service ff.net. Dont forget that. You need people like us to keep this service going. You're service is going downhill. Fix it. Or lose us.Flag
