A petition to ensure Cumberland RI maintains local control over zoning practices
This petition expresses the serious and grave concerns Cumberland Rhode Island
citizens have about RhodeMap RI, the legalization of transfer of
development rights, the threat of a politically controlled
state infrastructure bank, and the establishment of a Rhode Island statewide property
tax system.
We,
the undersigned, hereby petition the Cumberland RI Town Council to do everything possible to preserve the town's right to retain local control over Cumberland's zoning laws.
We require the Cumberland Town Council to
introduce, support, and pass any and all legislation to end the threat
of RhodeMap RI, HUD block grants, and the legalization of the Transfer of Development
Rights in Cumberland Rhode Island.
Furthermore, we,
the undersigned, oppose Cumberland retaining the $70,000 block grant
offered to the Town of Cumberland in 2014 as well as any support of the
contract signed in relation to this grant and any HUD grant that
references Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing [AFFH] rules.
By signing this Petition I agree to appear at every town council meeting to ensure the Cumberland Town Council complies with the aforementioned demands.
