Name: Chastity Elgersma on Oct 6, 2002State: MACountry: USComments: As a new grad, I am worried about getting overwhelmed at my job. I went into nursing because I love it and want to make it my life, but something has to be done to improve the nurse-to-patient ratios! We have no room to fudge on this with the nursing shortage. It is only gonig to get worse with the majority of RN's retiring soon and the decline in nursing school enrollment. I hope somebody powerful is not only listening, but taking further action as well!Flag

Name: Angela Lehman on Oct 8, 2002State: PACountry: USComments: As a CNA for over 12 years, I've seen in my facility how companys make cut backs and yet raise the prise for patients. On a good night I had (15),fifteen. A lot total care, some right out of surgery, with a HMO ready to dischare without finishing theropy. As a student I hope to add to the quality of my patients care and I support what ever the nurses need to do a better job. Good LuckFlag

Name: Laura Beard on Nov 5, 2005State: MSCountry: USComments: I work in Tennessee and on average nights we are required to take 10 pts some nights it is 14 pts. How can this be safe I work on post op so if I have 4 new postop patients then the other 6-10 are going to suffer neglect because there are not enough people to provide aqdequate care. Somebody needs to do something to help this profession. The new nurses are all leaving to find other types of jobs because they don't want to work this hard.Flag

Name: Deborah Butler on Jul 30, 2007State: FLCountry: USComments: I work where there is a 6:1 ratio. Time management and prioitizing care are two of the things I have trouble with. At times the acuity of the patients I care for inhibits me from providng adequate care because I just don't have the time I need. I wish I could spend more quality time with my patients. Sometimes I feel so rushed that I can't give them the attention, support and care they deserve.Flag
