Wendy HolkemaI think putting dogs in the back of pick up truck should also be stopped.
Brenda LowryThere is no such breed as the "OUTDOOR" dog !! Please make this practise illegal.
Gail BlackmanI cant understand the point of having a dog if you dont allow yourself to feel the loving connection with..and if it is for protection...chaining it up doesnt provide much protection.. Its not nice for the dog and i actually feel for owners who cant feel or see the benefits in having a dog as part of the family...not on the outside looking in.

Ruth AldredIt's about time laws are changed to help protect defenceless animals. Stiffer fines and jail terms should also be changed for animal abuse of any kind!

AnonymousSo sad, how cruel people can be.
susan mcnerneyplease end this horrible cruelty
Terri HyattPeople who have dogs must be held accountable for their physical AND emotional well-being. To chain a loving animal outdoors is inhumane and the laws must be changed to protect them.

Stephanie JohnsonI'm so sick of hearing of all abuse to all sorts of animals! Without them we wouldn't be able to survive, when will the importance of these innocent creatures be acknowledged???
Wendy TracyPlease listen to those who can not speak for themselves and make this New Year a kind and humane one! Revise law asap! Wendy Tracy
Robert TracyPlease help the helpless. Then you wonder why the dog bites and mauling. Inhumanity causes insanity in all animals. Listen and heed their calls and revise laws. Robert Tracy
m.c.littleThis is a barbaric way to treat mans best friend and should have stopped 100 years ago. If you can't have a dog in your house you shouldn't have one at all.

JenniferIt is unfathomable that York Region does not outlaw dog chaining. My family rescued a chained dog that was tied to an insufficient dog house. He was terrified of thunder storms (which must have sounded horrible in an aluminum shelter) as he would cry during the storm. It was awful. He turned out to be the sweetest pooch when he came to live with us. No dog can flourish by chaining.
Karen CashleyKeeping dogs chained up & isolated, with most of the time very non-caring OWNERS, not caring guardians is not acceptable, dogs need love, vet care, socialization & to be treated as a family pet should. Not to put in the yard 24/7 & left there!!!!

Selena ChiavattiI cannot believe this is allowed! How can you possibly think that chaining a living being with a heart.....feelings....emotions just like us humans is okay? This is not right. Dogs are not possessions....STOP TREATING THEM LIKE THEY ARE! If you could ask them how they felt about being chained up with just enough water and food to live they would tell you that they were very sad.....that they are miserable. Take into consideration that they are God's creatures just as we are. They deserve REAL love and affection and a proper shelter as we do. If you cannot take that responsibility....DONT HAVE A DOG! You should have a pet in the first place if you cannot treat them they way they need to be treated. THEY ARE NOT POSSESSIONS......they have the same needs a child does....would you leave your child chained up in with the bair necessities for survival? Not unless you were cruel. York Region needs to put their foot down immedately and stop this cruelty! This is disgusting. I am embarassed to live in a city/country that allows such stupidity! DISGUSTING!
AnonymousThis is an act of mental, emotional and physical cruelty. Why have a dog, or any animal if you're not going to love and appreciate it? Our society needs consciousness raising, and so do the owners of these poor, unfortunate beings. I'd like to see strict laws against this.
Kim IzzoThis is an inhumane act and should not be allowed to continue. Owners who tie up their dogs should be banned for life from ever owning an animal of any kind.
Frances WicksI think it's absolutely barberic for anyone to have a dog and let it live outside. The purpose of a pet is to be a part of the family and live in the house with you not outside. I think that if anyone owns a dog and leaves it outside, they should not be allowed to own any pets unless they are in the house.

Kym PritchardThis is so cruel. These dogs don't have voices we have to speak for them.

Meredith KerriganThis treatment of dogs and also cats without shelter and regular mutual and or human contact is a sad, really sad state. It turns my stomach everytime I see it occurring..anywhere. I live and work in York Region and do see this cruelness in both Vaughan and King and wish that it was against the law and something is actually done about it.
Marcela DonatoYork region must ban the chaining of dogs. It is cruel and unacceptable. We must end this abuse.

Deanna HodginsI am the owner of three rescued dogs. One of our other rescued dogs passed away last year and we rescued another one in July of 2007 at age 10. How people can treat animals in this fashion is beyond me. These pets are so loving and we are blessed to be able to offer them a loving home for their remaining years. If we could I would adopt Buster but our town has a three dog limit.
