The union feels student input hasn't been received in a meaningful way, and the council is asking for a seat at the table when the final contract is hammered out this spring.“We really want to get people aware of what’s happening and hopefully get some backing so we have a little more clout when negotiations begin,” said Marc Gauvin, UNBSU vice president of finance. The Food Service Provider contract is currently being renegotiated. The new contract will include required quality measures and standards for both SUB food outlets and residence meal halls for the next 10 years! The Student Union has developed the following demands for this contract:A note on ProcessThe contract is developed in two stages: first, the University developed a Request for Proposal (RFP) to determine which company will operate food services on campus; and second, the University negotiates a contract with the company selected by the RFP.The University made the appearance of including student voice and the voice of other stakeholder groups in the selection of the next food service provider (Sodexo, Chartwells, Aramark etc), and the terms of the new contract by including stakeholders on the RFP selections committee.
