But, I’ve the viewpoint that laptop computers are still not nearly powerful adequately to be a excellent selection if you normally do projects that require lots of power, for example video modifying. Jim , one of the surfing instructors, was kind enough to explain the AmpSurf event and organization to me. I drove the 2 hours home and immediately looked up AmpSurf. I just finished watching the videos and reading about this awesome organization. Congrats to all the participants, instructors and volunteers on an amazing, awe inspiring experience. The website and videos are great. I hope to join the volunteers and become part of this inspiring family of athletes. Cheers to you Dana for putting a smile on so many faces!Flag

Name: Tomyy on Oct 28, 2012Comments: Interesting post Nick, on the question of iitdenty in today's climate I do think web technology and access to all areas' (connecting to people, knowledge, cultures) from all over the globe has changed the way we may view ourselves at different stages in our lives. For the' youth of today' and those of tommorrow', the sphere of association, sharing and learning has changed. I do think it is a positive move in most respects as boundaries become fluid (and unfortunately as always there will be those that abuse) or close access' to have more control. I don't see iitdenty as fixed, at HE level it could still be developmental as one learns about one's self and others around you. I agree with what you say about whether we should be really concerned about those who have multiple identities, if they decide to engage in this way they have to manage it (or not!). I do think this multi-tasking has affected the need to be dynamic' and fleeting' in our relationships and possibly this can effect the experience. Could this pace of constanly changing, switching in different mode/environments like in games and their levels lead too less meaningful concrete experiences and associations or on the otherhand lead to expanding networks and better associations? That is why there is a need to fully understand what the tech tool allows you to do and you undertand how to use it!. Another question that arises is will it matter that we perform in this way? Will these forms of associations be suitable for all? I do think technology has accerelated for us to become more adaptive as the technology allows us to be more dynamic through personalisation and interactive associations. Many are experiencing the impact this is having; others may not see the relevance. As a result this amplifies more onus for those introducing such tech tools/environments to understand what the tool or learning environment can do and consider how and why such tools can be deployed in the most effective, open and flexible way in a secure environment so that the user can obtain positive learning experiences and retain and build associations beyond HE.Flag
