UK Stand Up is a national campaign which stands in solidarity against the epidemic of hate crimes and violence enacted against the black LGBTQ community in South Africa. We stand in solidarity with the community of LGBTQ people and allies living in South Africa who urgently demand a call to action by President Jacob Zuma which grants black lesbians be given the same human rights and protections as which would make them safe of such egregious acts as ‘corrective rape.’ We support the movements of LGBTQ, women’s, and... organizations who are in a fight to ensure that effective policies are in place that create a more equal, safe, and democratic society for all South African citizens.
