Name: Kathy Digby on Mar 10, 2010Comments: As a mother who drives to work and has been lucky enough to obtain a parking permit I fully support this campaign to change the policy for maternity leave staff. Our cars are of utmost inportance in actually making it possible for us to come back to work in the first place and also are an invaluable if we are needed to collect our child in an emergency during work hours. Working mothers are not asking for any special compensations and we do not 'want a medal' for returning back to work - the simple fact in this day and age is that many of us HAVE TO return to work (willingly or not!) and in order to be able to do 'both our jobs' to the best of our abilities we rely heavily on our cars.Flag

Name: Nina Coxall on Mar 10, 2010Comments: Currently on maternity leave and I have called security to find out about how I will be notified about car parking renewals and they say they have no way of contacting me and I'm not garenteed to even get a parking permitt upon my return which is unfair as I'm going to need it even more now I will be having another child.Flag

Name: Asim Patel on Mar 10, 2010Comments: Absolutely true. This needs to be revised actually the whole parking policy needs to be revised and make arrangements to create space (may be multi-story) for parking for all staff as well students in special needs like it used to be.Flag

Name: Emma Windley on Mar 10, 2010Comments: Surely this is borderline discrimination and what about Equal opportunities!? My Sister is in the same situation as Naheed and it is absolutely outrageous. I am due to go on Maternity leave this year and I do not want the same to happen to me when I return in 2011!Flag

Name: Vanessa Pash on Mar 10, 2010Comments: The fact that when a woman leaves to have a baby and then can lose her car parking space it outrageous. It is completely against equal opportunities and UEL need to look in to this urgently. They also need to look in to parking, on people who have been on long term sick and stress. The bus time table also needs re looking at too as the hours it runs simply is not helpful.Flag

Name: Carlando Francis on Mar 10, 2010Comments: I am not sure if this should be a moot point, as the reasons are rather obvious. Outside of that, there is a need to ensure mothers aren't penalised because they are/were on maternity leave.Flag

Name: Jo Sherman on Mar 10, 2010Comments: Parking should be managed more effectively, at present i know of at least 5 colleagues who have peak parking permits which are not being used. Staff should be allowed to 'suspend' their permit which would free up their space and allow staff without a permit to park albeit temporarilyFlag

Name: Anonymous on Mar 10, 2010Comments: I fully support ensuring that there is equal provision for parking for all. Discriminating against women on maternity leave simply because they aren't here when the annual permits are issued is not acceptable.Flag

Name: Sarah Chance on Mar 11, 2010Comments: I am in the same position as Naheed, I have returned from maternity leave. It makes me feel some what frustrated that there is nothing in place to accommodate people that are returning from maternity leave. I feel discriminated against as I was not given the same oppurturnity as other employees. I am expected to use public transport, whereby my local train station does not have a lift or a slop, therefore having to carry by baby down the steps along with all his daily equipment he requires or use the pay and display facility which I can not afford £4 per day = £80 a month, what a joke!Flag
