Dear President Carol Garrison, We, the UAB students of Anatomy and Biology, propose the installation of a Donor Memorial Garden on the UAB campus. This UAB Memorial Garden would show our gratitude and honor the Donors and families who have been instrumental in our learning. We propose that the UAB Memorial Garden be located in the plaza between Volker Hall and Lister Hill Library, near where many anatomy students learn. The UAB Memorial Garden will include garden space, plaques as well as space for internment of ashes. There is a current UAB Memorial Garden but it is located in Cook Springs, AL, far from UAB, disconnected from campus and with newly developing security measures that conflict with visitation. We do not propose to replace this Memorial Garden but to include one on the UAB campus. We ask for your support in the installation of the Memorial Garden on the UAB campus.
