Name: Andrea Doakes-Armitige on Nov 7, 2006Comments: It is unfortunate that the Director Blackwell and Coach Wilson aren't working together to develop the talent we have to put a winning program on the field. Although I regret taking this action, I feel no other way to convey my disgust with our current record. I and others feel we have the talent necessary to have a winning season but for what ever reason our leadership is not making the necessary decisions to aid our team in realizing their full potential.Flag

Name: Jay Corzine on Nov 7, 2006Comments: Please hire an individual with a CURRENT & PROVEN track record of success. The last two head football coaches hired by TSU (Bill Thomas and Steve Wilson) were re-treads from other Division 1-AA Conferences that have seen better days. Although their resumes display many accomplishments, those acheivements occurred many years prior to them being hired by Texas Southern. TSU needs an Athletic Department that will not settle for mediocrity. From merchandise & ticket sales to school enrollment, TSU annually loses potential revenues because we have not "put a winner on the field". SOMETIMES WINNING--the Labor Day Classic cannot be enough!!! I would prefer an alumnus of the university and/or a head coach/assistant coach from a winning program. This person also needs to be able to do a better job of recruiting local (Texas) talent. Lastly, the candidate should have Texas Southern University's best interest at heart.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Nov 8, 2006Comments: I can remember the promises Mr. Blackwell made when he was first hired as AD; he promised he could sell 25,000 season tickets along with numerous other promises that never came to fruition. Blackwell and Wilson are not under contract so it should be an easy separation.Flag

Name: Danny Arnold on Nov 8, 2006Comments: change is needed! at the same time, a change needs to be done on the interview process. and stop looking at only black historical colleges for candidates. for once get out of the fear of loosing tradition and start looking for a well qualified coaches. and lastly, the person/panel doing the hiring needs to be questioned.Flag

Name: Darlene D. Johnson on Nov 8, 2006Comments: Are they recruiting the right kind of ball players or are they not recruiting at at all It seems as though the money that was given to TSU by the State has not been spent wisely on or by the athletic department. The president and the board needs to do what is best for the school and not for them, their family and their friends.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Nov 8, 2006Comments: I definately think they need to go! They treat players unfairly and bring in "their own" people to play who do not display the talent needed to be a winning team. When coach Wilson came, TSU lost alot of good key players because of he chose to bring in people he wanted and truth be told, they were SORRY! They cheated people out of their scholarship and medical red shirt. Blackwell and Wilson need to pack up and ship out!!!Flag

We should review the athletic director and head coach records and make a quick decision on improving that area. We should ask Mr. Blackwell and Coach Wilson to resign their current position.Flag
