Comments: Please put control back in the hands of of school system. A uniform start date is like telling everyone one they have to eat dinner at 6pm! The person that thought of this should be given a set schedule for a year or two and see how "wonderful" it is to be restricted by ignorance.

Comments: This new ruling has to be bad for the local economy since hotels in tourist destinations sell out for the one Spring Break week and have no chance to spread out that demand for stronger revenue growth across multiple industries!

Comments: While I am for letting local communities decide their own calendars, I am opposed to school starting any earlier in August as I know it is a wasteful use of tax payer dollars to provide air conditioning to the schools during the heat of the summer.

Comments: I would gladly have school start one week earlier (mid-August) to have Fall Break re-instated. Without a full week at Thanksgiving, it's tough on families to find time to get away when everyone has the same time off.

Comments: I agree that the local community should be able to provide feedback on what is best for the school start date to reflect the community's unique needs and concerns.
