This petition is to address the unnecessary and resource-wasting resurfacing of the Los Gatos town park every year. In the spring, the town closes the popular town park to re-seed the grass sections, rendering the public space inaccessible. The daily soaking of the grass is a gross misuse of the little water we currently have available. Considering the state of California is currently experiencing a drought, this is a blatant waste of water as a precious resource. As a local independent business owner, the park closure also negatively affects customer traffic and therefore sales. The town of Los Gatos claims to be in support of small business, but decisions like this park closure is bad for the small businesses that surround the park area.
