Name: Amy Halligan on Nov 15, 2012Comments: I was a member of the University of Maryland swim team that was cut at the end of the 2012 season. This is a fate that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy, and I direly hope that Towson can avoid the cuts, unlike Maryland. What the baseball and soccer team need to do more than anything is make a big stink-- put the pressure on Waddell to make a positive PR move, unlike Maryland. I wish both teams the absolute best of luck in this terribly painful situation!!!!Flag

Name: Stephen J. Wetzelberger on Feb 9, 2013Comments: I played baseball briefly at Towson for Billy Hunter and Coach Gottlieb(1984). It was one of the best experiences of my life. Baseball and soccer have been and will continue to be an integral part of Americans lives. To deny the Towson students a baseball or soccer experience is a travesty. I understand fiscal responsibility, but there has to be better ways to manage finances than cutting premier programs, especially those that have been successful, and whose sports are the most participated and cheered in all of mankind. Please consider making cuts in any and all programs, and I am sure you can find a way to make this work so that these programs can be saved. Thanks!Flag

Name: Patti Mascone on Mar 9, 2013Comments: As a former University of Maryland student who filed a Title IX complaint to have softball added there, I feel the action to cut men's baseball and soccer at Towson runs afoul of Title IX. The intent was never to have a women's sport at the expense of the counterpart men's sport but to have both, and have both treated equitably. I hope the baseball team files a Title IX complaint. Shame on the Towson administration. If I were on the softball team at Towson, I would boycott my games in support of men's baseball.Flag

Name: Matthew Kefauver on Mar 12, 2013Comments: Save Towson Baseball! This issue stems far beyond just a sport. Yes, keeping this program would mean dozens of student athletes can continue to play the game they love, but it also would show evidence that a University with a financial problem could solve this type of issue using a different plan instead of taking the easy way out and cutting teams. Show some respect to the players, coaches, fans, and community by letting them play ball!Flag
