Name: Greg Dahle on Oct 20, 2012Comments: Athletic Task Force- Please consider all "outside the box" angles, especially local and professional athletic club partnerships, in order to save our athletic teams. The final decisions made on this issue within the next month or so could have serious national repercussions. Towson University's President, Athletic Department, and Task Force can be remembered as one of the reasons why athletic department's all across the nation began to "cut" many of their teams, or they can be remembered as visionaries who established partnerships to save them as a model for all athletic departments going forward. Take for example your soccer program. It is currently surrounded by the highest ranked youth soccer program in the country, the Baltimore Bays, who is now partnered with professional club and European powerhouse, Chelsea FC, and they have established an incredible US Development Academy Program. The Baltimore Bays also have a local professional development league team, the Baltimore Bohemians. The Academy teams feed your collegiate program, and your collegiate program feeds the PDL team, which, in turn, feeds the professional leagues. If the University, the Baltimore Bays, Chelsea FC, and the Baltimore Bohemians were to develop a partnership, combining all resources, the cycle would be complete, and the collegiate program finances could be shared throughout the entire partnership of programs. My son is considering playing for TU, my alma mater, and I would be more than happy to help you work with this!Flag

The Universiity President and BOD needs to take a hard look at the numbers and distribution. Do your job for the Citizens. Wrongs cannot be righted by eliminating Baseball and Soccer.Flag
