The details are not for us to comment on, but I know it is strongly discouraged for colleges to cut teams to be in compliance with Title 9 and I strongly believe Towson can find another avenue to generate money while keeping these talented men in our program.Flag

I find it difficult to believe that funds can't be saved in other area's of the University's operations.Flag

Name: Lou Dupski on Oct 18, 2012Comments: Parent of baseball alumni '04 Scholar Athlete and co-captain, who saw Coach Gottlieb give his players a chance to mature, succeed and lead. Our family has supported Tiger Athletics (Baseball) until this controversy. We hope you find a way to have baseball continue as it is America's Game, played at almost every college, certainly all those aiming to be great, in a city where Babe Ruth was born, MLB and the O's continue and players work towards there dream of either playing at a higher level or more importantly get a solid education, graduating after knowing team effort to succeed and becoming leaders, while often in the spotlight. I would be glad to be more involved with the endevior to save Towson Tiger baseball. There are those in Baltimore businesses and alumni players and non-players that could help support this program, possibly a Foundation such as Ripken's. There are many ways to cut costs such as lower roster sizes, and, or limiting travel pre-conference season trips, etc. to be combined with new fundraising. The Athletic Director and TU leadership need to prove to us they can make this work to keep baseball (and I hope soccer also).Flag

Name: Jeff Slockbower on Oct 19, 2012Comments: Being a student/athlete for Lynchburg College allowed me to become the person I am today. I chose Lynchburg b/c it enabled me to continue my athletic career while earning a degree. I needed both in my life for the balance and would have chosen a different college if baseball was not offered. Besides my family, my college teachers and coaches helped mold me into the successful person I am today. It would be ashame to take that experience away from the young men that chose your university for both the academic and athletic growth they desired.Flag
